We stayed for two nights. Location is excellent, views are stunning. The room is quite basic but adequate. Old fashion charm. The real issue is the varying levels of service, as some of the staff were rude if not impolite (an evening shift receptionist literally refused to help us with ordering a taxi...). Food had great potential but the dining room isn't run professionally. There was a mixup with our meals (we'll, this can happen), and the morning sweet dish - waffle - was incredibly salty, not edible at all. It was as if salt was put in instead of sugar. We have remarked on that but there was no apology or check, just an incredible dismiss.
At times it seems as if staff were hiding so that they would not be disturbed by the guests....
These two incidents coloured our stay and made us feel unwelcome, despite some other staff being friendly or forthcoming at times. Such a pity to leave with a bad taste.

Welcoming front desk staff at check in and throughout our stay. Answered all of our questions and gave helpful advice.|Our room was nice and our terrace had beautiful views of the fjord. We enjoyed coffee and a game of cribbage on the deck.|The breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of choices. We appreciated being able to charge our rental car overnight right at the hotel.|We enjoyed the nearby Stegastein Viewpoint and toured the historic churches in town. We were able to pick up groceries for picnics at the grocery in Aurland.

A very nice location, with the exterior blending perfectly into the fjord scenery, and it looks very clean. The hotel has no elevator, and the staff seem listless and inattentive, with almost everything being self-service. Understandably, in a small place it’s not easy to find satisfactory employees! Or perhaps it’s a family-run business.

Wij hadden per ongeluk een verkeerde datum geboekt bij Hotel Aurlandsfjord in Noorwegen. Menselijke fout — maar wat volgde was ronduit schandalig. Geen enkele coulance, geen belletje op de dag zelf om te vragen waar we bleven, helemaal niks. Het hotel bestempelde het als een “no show” en hield het volledige bedrag van €340 per nacht zonder pardon.||We hebben herhaaldelijk contact gezocht: via Booking.com én rechtstreeks. Maar telkens stuitten we op een muur van onverschilligheid. Geen enkele poging tot meedenken of tegemoetkoming. Alsof je als gast volledig inwisselbaar bent.||Toen we vervolgens de reviews bekeken, zagen we dat we lang niet de enigen waren. Het beeld is duidelijk: dit hotel blinkt uit in onvriendelijkheid, starheid en klantonvriendelijkheid. Wees gewaarschuwd — voor deze prijs mag je op zijn minst wat menselijkheid verwachten.||Ik boek hier nooit meer en raad het ten zeerste af aan anderen.

I cannot say enough about this charming little hotel. ||The location is perfect, lovely view of the mountains, waterfall and fjord. So quiet, picturesque and peaceful. ||The rooms are small but lovely and so comfortable, clean and elegant. There are no TVs which is perfect. The beds are comfy and snuggly and the bathrooms are well appointed and modern. There’s a nice coffee service in the room and all the windows open so you can have lots of fresh mountain air. I slept so well. ||Contrary to what other reviews say, there is an elevator/lift. ||The food is amazing. The breakfast is to die for, very Norwegian. I think a lot of people buy the set menu but I would recommend going a la carte. The chef is amazing and it’s probably some of the best fish I have ever eaten. Wow. Don’t limit yourself to the set menu. ||There’s a grocery store in walking distance to get other items and a small bakery down the road for a light lunch, coffee and pastries. ||Parking is limited but adequate. ||The staff is sooooo lovely and helpful. ||I cannot rave enough about this hotel. I loved every moment of my stay. ||Lovely!!!

We spent two night at Hotel Aurlandsfjord. It is a small hotel about 10 mins from Flam. We booked the family room because that is all they had available for the two of us. If I had to rate the room only I would give 1 out of 5. It was extremely basic and a very depressing room. My husband and I could not stay in there except to sleep. The room is very dark, inadequate lighting, the walls, flooring etc are all very dark as well. There is one small window in the far corner which overlooks a small area with walls with overgrown weeds. There is no TV or telephone in the room. The only amenities provided is a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap. There is no body lotion either which I consider to be a fairly basic amenity. The room is really bare bones and extremely overpriced for what we received.||The only redeeming qualities to this hotel were the staff who were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good in that we had the option to order a few items from a menu along with the standard buffet offerings. We had the dinner as well on both nights which is a la carte at an additional charge. But the quality of the dinner was excellent. You do not have to stay at this hotel to enjoy the dinner. They also had a free washer/dryer which was extremely helpful. Parking was limited but we had no problems. They have electric car charging for an additional fee. Sadly we would not return to this hotel if we had a choice.

Un super séjour ! Le personnel est vraiment très agréable et toujours souriant. La terrasse dans la chambre avec vue sur le fjord et les montagnes… juste incroyable 😍On s’est régalés avec la demi-pension, les repas étaient délicieux et super bien présentés ! En plus, l’emplacement est top pour explorer les environs. ⛰️

A nice location. Rooms are comfortable. Lift is limited to second floor. Staff are polite, but a bit aloof. Food is adequate but not remarkable.
