Stayed here recently and read some recent reviews as we approached town. They were not very positive reviews and this left us worried. However, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. If you are looking for the Four Seasons and impeccable everything this place is not for you. If you enjoy a unique stay in a place with character you should have a wonderful time. Everything was very clean (keeping in mind it is not a sanitised chain hotel), the staff were very helpful. The balcony view is incredible. We stayed in a 2nd floor room and the problem from came from a guest smoking on the patio despite clear no smoking signs. We did not have dinner so I have no comments on that. Travelling from Canada, we find all the buffets in Norway to be exceptional and this location kept that consistent. Accept that you are going to a hotel that has developed its own "patina" over many years and you should have a wonderful stay.

This small hotel has a brilliant location in Ulvik overlooking the fjord. The view was gorgeous. I booked a superior room & it was large with a huge balcony & comfy wicker chairs. The room was clean & basically furnished but oh so dated. With a bathroom upgrade, change of carpet/curtains and some modern furniture it would be in a different league.|Breakfast buffet was adequate for a small place. Coffee could be improved. We ate dinner here on both nights (limited availability anywhere else) and it was fine. There was no choice just a starter (soup), a main & a pud. We’re not especially fussy so that was ok. Not sure how guests with allergies or special dietary requirements would fare. |All of the staff were super friendly and helpful.|Yes I might stay again but it would be good to see it refurbished.

Schöne Lage am Fjord, aber.....|Das Hotel ist mehr als in die Jahre gekommen. Manchmal versprühen solche Ort ja Charme und wirken nostalgisch, aber nicht so dieses Hotel. Das Mobiliar ist alt, abgenutzt und zusammengewürfelt, vom Stil her alles andere als Vintage, eher aus den 80er oder 90 er Jahre stammend. Der alte Teppich im Zimmer verströmt einen muffigen Geruch. Wehe Du leidest unter einer Hausstaubmilben-Allergie! Unsere Toilette machte einen Heidenlärm beim Spülen. Einzig das Bett war bequem und auch sauber.|Auf der Restaurant Terrasse befand sich eine Lounge, aber die Kissen waren durch Vogelkot stark beschmutzt. Das Frühstücksbuffet beschränkte sich auf das Minimum an Auswahl und Qualität. |Es war auch das einzige Hotel auf unserer Reise, welches eine Kreditkarte verlangte, um darauf ein Depot zu reservieren. Als ob man hier etwas noch mehr hätte kaputt machen können!|Die Besitzerin ist nett und versucht mit einem Lächeln die Mängel zu überstrahlen, sodass man gar nicht erst in Versuchung geraten kann, Kritik auszusprechen. |Unsere "Suite" (vom Mann an der Reception als schönstes Zimmer angepriesen!) befand sich im alten Teil. Ich weiss nicht, ob die Seitenflügel mal renoviert wurden?

Skuffende opphold – hotellet trenger sårt en oppgradering||Hotellet er i svært slitt stand og burde absolutt gjennomgå en fullstendig renovering. Rommene mangler både ventilasjon og TV, noe som gjør oppholdet ubehagelig – spesielt på varme dager.||Matutvalget er elendig, og kvaliteten på maten er rett og slett en skam. Det virker som det spares på alt her. Gjester blir delt inn i grupper til måltidene, spesielt frokost, og kan faktisk bli kastet ut dersom tiden “deres” er over. Dette oppleves som lite gjestfritt og respektløst. Frokosten i seg selv er svært dårlig med minimalt utvalg.||Ingen i personalet snakker norsk, til tross for at dette er et hotell i Norge. Mange eldre gjester hadde tydelig problemer med å kommunisere med betjeningen, noe som skaper unødvendig frustrasjon.||Hvis du kun trenger et sted å sove én natt og ikke forventer noe mer, kan det fungere. Men som helhet er dette ikke et sted jeg vil anbefale. Hotellet burde egentlig stenges og pusses opp før det igjen kan tilby et anstendig opphold. Og en flink kok bør ansettes..

I had such a great stay at this hotel! I slept like a baby — the bed was super comfy and everything was spotlessly clean. The room was beautiful, and the view of the lake and mountains was absolutely stunning. The staff were all super friendly and made me feel really welcome, which added to the warm and cozy vibe of the place. Huge thanks to everyone for making my night so lovely. I really hope I get the chance to come back someday! 🙌🏼😁

The scenery here is beautiful, the view is great! I was very happy when I checked in! But all this changed when I took a shower! Because I didn't close the bathroom door when I took a shower! The steam triggered the smoke alarm at the bathroom door! I am very sorry about this. Two hotel staff also came to my room quickly! And asked me to open the door quickly for air. But at this time I met a very rude male staff! He said very bad words to me and told me that I need to pay for the alarm and so on! The attitude is very bad! I was like a prisoner being lectured! This made me very frustrated! A wonderful trip became imperfect! Of course, I didn't have the mood to continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery! I am sorry for the trouble I caused, I didn't expect that taking a shower would trigger the smoke alarm! At the same time, I am also sad about the shock I received! A bad experience! I think such a beautiful scenery should have a kind staff!I don't want to discuss this matter any more! Because I believe you must have a reasonable explanation! Seeing your reply to other guests, you always have a reasonable explanation and are never the party at fault! If you think it is polite for employees to point their fingers at guests and lecture them.

L’hotel ha un paesaggio e la posizione fantastici, ma sono le uniche cose degne di menzione.
La colazione è da migliorare nettamente, non si può fare un cappuccino e le macchinette automatiche sono antiquate. Il caffè esce tipo americano ed il latte freddo. Non ci sono dolci ma solo mini croissant per il resto ti accontenti.
La cena offre solo zuppe, salmone, arista e cosce di pollo.
Le stanze sono carine e con vista stupenda, il bagno senza finestra e con aspiratore rotto.
Insomma, se sei di passaggio, va bene ma il prezzo e’ elevato.

Some of the rooms are worn down, but they are renovating the hotel bit by bit. The hotel in itself has a fair share of charme. Very friendly staff, and the
location is superb, right on the water edge if the fjord, with steps leading
down the water if you want to take a swim. Also heard it is a sauna in the hotel, but as it was 30c during our stay we did not need explore that part of the service.
